  • There is a handy little program for editing the Vista/7 boot manager. Easy BCD - http://neosmart.net/dl.php?id=1 . You can do it all through a command prompt but this is much easier.

  • undecided what you mentioned yet I easily have a superb kind of fee twin booting linux and domicile windows vista/xp. What you do first is pasttion the different annoying stress right into a common, and 3 logical area partio ns. then set up window 2000, next set up xp. and then set up ubuntu linux. the clarification why you should do it is, s xp is a sparkling operrating equipment the window 2000 .And xp will smash it given it is greater present day

  • The choices are contained in a hidden system file called boot.ini in the C:\ folder.

The easiest way to correct it is to remove the system, read-only and hidden attributes on boot.ini, save a copy as boot.old or similar, and edit boot.ini to remove the unwanted lines. Actually, I think if you just rename boot.ini it will default to the only Windows you have. I'd try that first, remembering you may have to boot from a CD in order to access boot.ini if it doesn't work as expected.

  • I'm not sure with vista but with xp i would boot xp cd select repair then admins password then select FIXMBR... (master boot record) this would update the boot screen that the other os is no longer there.

  • Format the unnecessary partition and it will not register as a bootable partition.
