Can you exorcise a dog?

My dog seems to know exactly where my glasses are, every single time. Even when I get new ones, it still works. And then it started with phones, keys and things. He's terrified of the church in our neighborhood, and doesn't eat cross-shaped dog treats. It was okay at first, but now it's getting worse. Is he possessed? If he is, can I exorcise him?

  • Is this a joke? Oh cause he isn't possessed he is just good at finding things

  • It would be very difficult to get a priest to exorcise your dog in the Christian religion. They typically take exorcisms very seriously, from all those I've spoken with. Also, it is actually very hard for people to become possessed, and while animals are sensitive to knowing when possible entities are nearby, they cannot become possessed. (There are no documented cases.)

Signs of having an entity nearby are things like hissing and growing sounds, loud sudden noises that end shortly and are completely random, seeing black things moving in dim lighting (or good lighting, for that matter), nightmares that include these things and will not allow you to wake, sometimes involving family members or loved ones, tugging on the covers, missing objects or moving objects, and your pet chasing invisible things across the ceiling and walls.

I realize there are people who never had paranormal experiences, and I completely understand their point of view and respect it. But for those of us who have had the covers jerked off and objects standing up on their own/ falling over when you walk in the room.. Eh.. There's a definite difference and its sounds like your just have a pretty awesome pet. Probably one that loyally pays attention to you. Just because you get new glasses doesn't mean you change the place you put them. *Wink*

You might be oversensitive to locations out of suspicion. If you get nervous, your pet will react too. So if you act like he's scared of the bakery down town whenever you pass it, he'll tense up every time you pass it. It could be association with loud bells ringing or groups of people.

All in all, no, your pet isn't possessed and he seems to be very bright and healthy. I wouldn't worry until he starts chasing the walls and looking directly up, growling at things when you don't have an upstairs or pests in the house. =)

  • Cross shaped dog treats? Where can I get me some of those?!?

Ps: your dog is not possessed, no worries.

Pps: the combination of an exclamation mark and a question mark is called an interrobang. !?!?! Bam. You just got interrobanged. Mindrape.

  • o_O; Don't you think it's silly to think that your dog needs an exorcism just because he/she doesn't like the church and doesn't eat cross shaped treats? And I don't really see how your dog's ability to find things shows that it needs an exorcism

  • the glasses, phones & keys smell like you thus are attractive - there is a reason I have multiple hard glasses cases one big enough to include the phone.

  • As an avowed Atheist it would be rather pointless of me to attempt exorcise any living creature.

  • Tell me how that goes.
