C Strong base

D Weak base

Comments

  • C Strong base. In general, acids have an "H" in the front of the formula whereas bases have an "OH" at the back of it. When an acid and a base react, the "H" and the "OH" bond to form HOH (H2O), which is why they neutralize each other. The strength of an acid or a base is determined by how much it "dissociates" (breaks apart) when added to water. A strong acid or base dissociates a lot, whereas a weak acid or base does not. NaOH dissociates a lot, which makes it a strong base.

  • Strong base. Remember that bases always have OH- and acids have H+.
