Why is Emir Kusturica considered Serbian?

In articles he is always referred to as 'Serbian director Emir Kusturica' but I thought he was born Bosniak. Did he convert to Orthodox or is it just because he sided with the Serbs in the war?

    He has one Serb parent and one Bosniak parent. He decided to convert to Orthodoxy because he believes Bosniaks are Serbs, and so he was a full Serb according to him.. According to the Orthodox Church, he is called "Nemanja Kusturica".

    Yes he was born to Bosnian Muslim parents so I suppose it's because he sided with Milosevic in the war.
