2005 Pontiac Montana SV6 Electrical problem?

A while ago, both my turn signal bulbs blew out at the same time! so i replaced them. last week, my powerlocks stopped working. and yesterday, my back window blew outwards. I checked the fuse for the locks and its a 15amp fuse (#1 on the panel diagram says TRUNK/LKS) fuse was blown. Went to put a new fuse in and blew up before i even put the fuse in the fusebox. SO i tried a 20amp fuse and it did the same thing.

It is obvious i have a huge shortage somewhere, we are thinking the trunk, but we cannot open the trunk because the powerlocks dont work. The key remote will not open it also.

any suggestions? Im thinking it could be the BCM.

i dont need people explaining that i should go take it to a mechanic. I will take it to one if its the last possible thing but i need to find the shortage.

Update:

we are trying to get into the trunk. we need it open.

is there an emergency release latch somewhere?

  • try removing the neg battery terminal, replace the fuse and then hook the battery back up.

  • I agree, 1st check to see if it is still under warranty 3/36. If not, sounds like you have 2 problems, the wiper module and the wiper "park arm". Both very common. I get alot of these trucks in our shop, the wipers staying in the up position or not parking is 95% always the park arm either misadjusted or bad, note, there is a special procedure for properly "clocking" them . Its rare to see a bad wiper switch on a Montana van. But without haveing it properly tested, you wont know for sure. note- A certified tech gets paid for his acurate diagnosis, the person who said get a free one, you will get a better job is so wrong. Auto Tech's, ( good ones who actually know what they are doing and who are well trained) get paid to make sure its done right the 1st time. Remember, you normally get in life what you paid for, sometimes free isnt always the best. Good tech's have spent thousands of dollars on tools and equipment, not to mention hundreds of hours of training, which they usually take durning the time they are off work, after hours. They want the knowledge to be good, and deserve the proper pay as well. Good luck
