Cant import camcorder onto macbook pro!! help!!?
Hi please help needed..i am sooo annoyed!:)
details...
-macbook pro OS X
-imovie '11
baisically i have a panasonic nv-gs17 camcorder..it records using mini dv tapes, therefore to get it onto my laptop i need a usb cable (which i have) as it doesnt have a memory card or anything too modern like it! when i plug it into my mac, open imovie go to file, import from camera..the screen comes up, except it doesnt have my camcorder screen up but my isight camera! its like it doesnt even know the camera is plugged in!
i know it is not the camera as i could upload videos onto my dell computer fine!!
any help/ideas greatly appreciated!

maybe your video format is not compatible with iMovie '11
i have a Panasonic VDR Mini DVD camcorder, and iMovie '11 also won't import the video from it.
Luckily, one of my friends offers me a step by step guide on how to import mini dvd into imovie

some friends who use mini dv tapes also said this method can work for them.
the software in this guide has free trial version, i suggest you first free download the free trial version to have a try and see if it also works for your mini dv tapes
