Should I buy a Kia Rio or a Kia Spectra???

I want a new car that is inexpensive and gets good gas mileage. I am in college so I can't afford much but I've read that the new Kias are much better then the older models and have improved a lot. Anyone have a new Kia???

Thanks!

  • That is true. They are now great cars. I have driven them many times.

The Kia Spectra is better than the Rio in every way, but the Rio is cheaper and gets 2mpg better.

  • The Spectra5 is leaps and bounds better than the Rio. I can't tell you how many Rio's come in the shop with blown engines, and various other problems, where as the Spectra5 we hardly ever see except for maintenance issues. Neither really hold their value though. So you might consider researching other vehicles before settling down on a Kia.

  • The 2006+ Rio and 2004.5+ Spectra are both great cars. The Rio actually has MORE interior space than the Spectra, but the Spectra is a bigger car, go figure...

  • please listen carefully!! do not ever buy a kia--that was the biggest waste of money!! i had 15,000 good miles out of a brand new kia and then it was he-- the rest of the time. the day i totaled it was the best day of that cars life. it was so bad i put a bumper sticker on the back of it that said : this vehicles name is diarrhea because its a piece of sh-- and it runs" trust me it is cheap for a reason!! i can not imagine a kia getting better--they have nothing to work with at the start!!good luck if you buy it you're gonna need it--have a good road side service on hand!!

  • rio is cheaper but they have poor resale value...my fiance was supposed to get a hyundai accent for 10g from a dealer but they didnt have any so they gave him an elantra for 15g
