is 900 calories a day okay?

i have a weight loss app on my ipod. according to it if i am to loose 2 pounds per week i have to have 700 calories left over or less. I eat around 900 per day, mostly just fruits, vegetables, whole wheat, and some supplements. I exercise and burn off 2-3 hundred per day. when i am at the weight i want i think the calories i can eat will increase. I'm 4 feet and 9 inches btw. I'm kinda short for my age so that makes it worse =[

  • No that is too low of an amount. That would be called a VLCD very low calorie diet and those are done under doctor supervision and only for the severely overweight. You should probably be consuming no less than 1300 a day on your exercise plan. You may not lose two pounds a week but weight lost slowly is more likely to stay off. Good luck.

  • 900 calories? That's probably not even your basal metabolic rate, which is the amount of calories you need just to sustain life with you in a coma. Ipod apps aren't really the most reliable things in the world.

And burning 200-300 lbs is like.. light jogging for 15-20 minutes... If you want to lose weight, you're going to have to burn alot more than that!! You can't be lazy, you have to work hard!

  • You should eat 1500 minimum, if not more

your body uses at least those many in a day just doing normal activities such as sitting, walking, eating, etc.

You need to increase the calories that you're burning-do more exercise

  • 900 calories a day? Yeah maybe if you're a rabbit. I, personally, don't recommend going this low on calories.

  • That's not enough calories. Even on a diet, you should have at least 1500 calories.

  • 900 calories a day - thats not healthy for anyone.

    EAT MORE HEALTHY FOOD.

  • ur gunna die if u eat only 900 calories a day. im serious.

  • 1200 is okay
