I don't know whether transgender people have this surgery, but I do know that some transsexual women do; and I really wouldn't recommend it.
Yes, it will leave a scar; a good surgeon can minimise that, but it will still be there, if anyone looks closely enough.
And the surgery itself is not without risks; the 'contouring' involves paring away some of the cartilage of the larynx, which will inevitably weaken it (more so for a larynx that hasn't been exposed to the effects of testosterone). In some cases, it can adversely affect your voice too.
The only way you'll end up with visible significant scarring is if you have a lousy surgeon or postop infection. I had mine done and nobody has ever commented on noticing and after a couple years I stopped noticing it all. The only reason I ever even noticed in the first place on myself anyway is because I knew it was there and was consciously checking it as is normal human nature. The incision made is so small anyway that even if there was some scarring it would be so insignificant that most people who do notice would assume it was something more akin to acne pitting than a surgical procedure. I never had any adverse reaction to it in any way. Don't sweat it for a second, if it's something that will make you feel better go ahead and do it.
yes any surgery that involves an incision will leave at least a small scar but a good surgeon can minimize the scar. and proper post op care and little mederma scar cream will make it nonexistent. when my appendix ruptured after surgery my incision had to be reopened and my scar still cleared up after a year and a half. i want to have this done as well however there is allot of important stuff located in that area so im a little nervous but i plan to do it anyway its my only give-a-way and even though its not that big some people notice it from time to time so it makes me very subconscious of it so i understand how you feel. good luck sweetie.
A good plastic surgeon will make the incision so that the small scar is in a crease of the skin in your neck. You will have to look carefully to find it.
Any opening, cutting or piercing of your skin you end up with a scar.
well I am a transsexual woman and I did it but anyway I wear makeup every day and the small incision is impossible to be seen
I think it's sexy (on men)!!
Put weight on and see if it disappears. If not, I'd say you might get a small scar...
be beautiful the way you are!!
you've got to be kidding me.
is it worth not being cool with youself to be just like everyone else?
