its not a fool proof system on the newer cars but you really have to know what you are doing. the old cars i can do it in the engine bay with a single piece of wire and a means of jumping the relay or solenoid. i did it on a friends car years ago to prove a point.
Not really possible anymore. Any car worth stealing has transponder keys and won't start without them.
If you have hours to work with, and tools, you can disable the system.
Older cars, just cut wire the ignition switch to a 12v source and scrape the starter wire against the cut 12v source. Then ground the key cylinder to unlock wheel.
