Two party system. Why?
Speaking as a european (scandinavian) I am struggling with this a great deal.
How is the two party system the US operates with a good idea? why aren't the other presidential candidates allowed to be in the debates?
Why is it only the Republicans and the Democrats that are allowed to swim in the pool?
Can someone explain to me how having 2 political parties constitute a democracy?
The two groups aren't even that different, just two sides of the same coin.

Here's the thing. I hate our political system. Only having 2 parties just leads to a bunch of rivalries between the two and in general just alot of meaningless knit picking. I won't be voting this year because I feel I'll lose no matter what I say so I just won't support either and none of the 3rd parties have a chance in hell at winning.
Not pertaining to the 2 party system, but we don't even vote in our officials. The electoral college does. They just generally go along with what the voters say, but if they ever had a reason to they have authority to go against the people. It's a glorified popularity contest.
No. No one can explain this.
