How does existence factor into reality?

Which is more important, do you think?

Update:

If there was no reality, existence couldn't exist.

Reality > existence imho.

  • Interesting question... It is often true that we would compare importance of two via necessity or ontology, but this is the case when value is given for personal relationship instead.

Existence is an objective impermanent physical form while reality is a subjective illusion of that existence. However, it is because of the subjective nature of reality that we hold more closely to reality than an objective existence that we have no control over.

It is for the same reason why free will is held more nobly than a deterministic fate. Well, at lease that is true for my reality. With that thought comes responsibility and utility of such free will.

  • Reality implies existence. How our minds work, we have consciousness.. Then add some thought and logic to that. Afterwards, we notice how we can differentiate between things, including ourselves vs. other things. Thus, we establish an existence. We call that which we know, reality. None of more important.

It's like saying: "Which parts are more important in a thing, in so far as it is a thing". The answer would be none are more important. Without any of its parts, it would not be itself. In fact, addition of parts would change it as well. Now, if I were to say: "Which parts are more important in so far as the function speed is static", then we can state which parts do not effect that particular function, thus non-important in relation to the function chose.

Thus, It has been stated that they need eachother. The same as "good" needs "bad". Although, our minds work in a fancy way.

Observe cause and effect, one would state: "Without a cause, there is no effect", but this is flawed. Effect is what initially alludes to us, then we trace back to a possible cause. Reality is the same, we initially understand the concept of existence, and then from that we understand what Reality is. Look at exponents in Math, we understand those, and from that concept we create logarithms.

In fact, Happiness is like this. We understand the concept of Happiness, then from this we establish a "lack of", implying sadness. Same for bad, we don't have bad then good, we have the initially conception of good from which we derive its anti-process bad.

Same for derivatives in Math, from that we describe the "Integral". Etc Etc

Thus, Existence alludes to our mind first, and from that we are able to suppose the definition of reality, which includes existence.

  • existense is more important because if you didnt exist there would be no reality, reality is the statistics, the facts, when you exist you can always change the statistics, and the facts, even if the facts are tiny facts or big facts lyk the population, anyone who exists can change the population, but ppl who exist can also decrease the population, reality is knowing when ur existence makes a difference, a change in the reality

  • Entities that exist are called "existents".

It is the sum total of existents (no matter how many) that we call "existence".

Reality is that which is an existent, i.e., that which is in existence.

  • If there were no existence, reality would not exist.

  • existence is that which is objective. reality, is the conceptual construct there of. reality, is contingent upon existence.
