How can basses cover soprano songs?
Like how CAN they sing soprano songs without going into the soprano range?
Update:And when I say soprano songs, songs not just in the operas and other formal singing practices, but also pop songs sung by people with the soprano range (like Kelly Clarkson)

Ideally, you want your registers to go like: chest>head-mix>head. You don't want to sing in a chest-mix or a falsetto.
If we start with a chest voice E2, the chest to head mix range would be around E2-G4/G#4. After that the head voice would mainly be used up to about g5. So it's possible that a bass would be singing from e2-g5. The problem is the nasal resonance. Most lower voices need a lot more nasal resonance work to sing a good head voice.
They sing the same melody but transposed to a lower register. Of course a bass voice does not have the same agility so to expect a spectacular belcanto is probably not realistic.
