does dodge own mercedes

  • No they don't. It used to be Mercedes Benz, Benz split from Mercedes and merged with Daimler, which was then purchased by Chrysler. Chrysler was just recently purchased by a private equity firm along with all of it's affiliates, dodge, jeep, eagle, mitsubishi, etc. But mercedes is still a totally separate manufacturer.

  • Dodge Mercedes

  • No they don't. In 1998 Mercedes Benz (Daimler Benz) bought Chrysler. At the time Mercedes was losing money while Chrysler was hugely profitable and neither had great quality. This created a company called Daimler Chrysler.

They used the Chrysler profits to fix Mercedes while running Chrysler into the ground by failing to develop any good cars in case the SUV/truck bubble burst. Eventually Chrysler struggled and was losing money and Mercedes was profitable and had improved quality.

Mercedes sold 80.1% of Chyrsler to Cerberious while keeping 19.9% in 2007. Unfortunately for Mercedes they spent around $35 billion to buy them and only got about $5 billion back when they sold them.

  • Daimler Chrysler no longer exists. Chrysler is owned by the Cerberus Corporation. It is a privately held company. Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge are all owned by them.

Daimler sold their share of dodge out a long time ago and its now under new owners, they still use the name but not for long, when the deal was in affect it was Daimler that bought a part of chrysler out, not chrysler buying Daimler out, good luck.

  • Negative, Chrysler is its own company now. Chrysler LLC. They had merged with Daimler in 1998, but Daimler sold Chrysler to a group of investers called Cerberus.

  • Chrysler owns Dodge, Jeep, Plymouth, and some of Mitsubishi.

Mercedes, which owns Maybach and Smart, has joined with Chryler.

    They Merged.

It is now called Daimler Chrysler.

  • It's the other way around...

Chrysler is the parent Company to Dodge, Jeep, GEM car and prev Plymouth...

Diamler/Mercedes is i think part owner of Chrysler Corp these days... and all together they have made major changes to the vehicles comming out these days...

"example" the Chrylser 300, Dodge Charger/challenger are built off of the Mercedes [E] class sedan/paltform...

  • Finally, that's what I was looking for! Thanks op of this question.
