Reducing appearance/ removing a scar?
I burned myself with my straightener about a month ago and I TOTALLY HATE MYSELF because I got a burn cream from my doctor but I didn't use it enough to keep a scar from appearing... So now I have this round scar about the size of my thumb on my breast and I don't know how to get rid of it... All I can wear are t shirts now because I'm ashamed when people see it they think its a hickey! HELP ME PLEASE!!??

Cold water is best for initial treatment - 20 minutes under the tap is ideal. Never!! use ice, vinegar, milk, butter, mustard, toothpaste, sunscreen, semen, vaseline, tomato, vanilla extract, yogurt, sour cream, egg white, lavender oil, or cocoa butter until the skin is fully healed! Ignore anyone who advises any of these.
Really you should call a dermatologist and make an appointment. Than will get you REAL results. But:
Wait until the burn heals before trying to reduce scarring. To reduce the appearance of surface scars, visit your local drugstore to find creams and topical ointments that contain vitamin E, vitamin A or vitamin C. You may also want to try creams made from cocoa butter as the oil has been known to help skin become more supple, which will reduce the appearance of scarring
Prescription medications that are taken orally can also help reduce the appearance of burn scars. These medications usually contain antihistamine or corticosteroids. Skin patches containing these medications are also available depending on the size and severity of the scar. You will need to visit your physician in order to receive permission to take this type of medication.
Avoid sunlight as much as possible! Sunlight can make scars near impossible to get rid of. It is best to avoid exposing a scar to strong, direct sunlight for the first 12 - 18 months following injury. A sun-block
cream with a high SPF (greater than 30) is best if you cannot avoid sun exposure
Massage can help to heal scars. It reduces the tendency for the skin to stick to any underlying structures and is thought to speed up the healing process, reducing the redness and irregularity. Massage should involve moving the scar on the underlying structures rather than rubbing the surface of the scar itself.
For best results this should be repeated for 5-10 minutes, several times a day, perhaps after washing and bathing. Lanolin, Vitamin E oil or a neutral moisturizer can help to lubricate the wound during the massage.
Lastly, invest in some aloe vera and Mederma. Both work miricals when used regularly.
For good cover-up, put green eyeshadow on the burn to contrast and cover the redness. Then cover the entire thing with regular concealer and powder. Also, eye redness drops applied to the burn can help with the color.
Bio oil is great for fading and flattening scars, you can get it from most chemists I think. Vitamin E oil is really good too, or any creams containing vitamin E, vitamin E oil is usually avaliable from health food shops.
Try the drugstore for the scar creams. Until then, try to cover it with makeup?
