Supernatural: do you think Sam has turned into a demon?

Ruby said she was human and going to hell turned her into a demon. Demons lose compassion and that seems to be what is happening to Sam. When he got together with Dean, he drank 'salt' water but it could have been sugar. We don't know for sure. Castiel would not answer him and was looking at him funny. Whatever his secret is, it's big and this was all I could come up with. Does anyone else have a better explanation for what is going on with Sam?

  • I don't think he's a demon. He got into the panic room at the compound. Wouldn't be much poin to that room if a demon could get in. Plus, monsters have been doing a pretty good job of beating him up so far. Whatever it was they were hunting last week, Daddy shapeshifter, the djinn. If he was a demon, I think Cas would have mentioned that to Dean. No reason not to. I think Sam has some emotional issues and I think the demon blood is still in him and affecting him. He may even still be drinking it.

  • From what Ruby made it seem like, you have to be in hell a long time to be turned into a demon. I thing that what is going on with Sam is that the Grandpa is not exactly perfect, and he has been corrupting Sam... not sure if it's intentionally or not. The whole deal with taking the monsters to somebody is pretty strange, and that side of the family seems pretty shady. Sam has taken their uncaring approach to the hunting game, which is very unlike his and Dean's attitudes in the past.

  • According to the newest episode on CW since October 15th, Sam and Dean found out that Crowley was a human and turned into a demon, like many others. Earlier that same episode, Bobby Singer had burned the remnants (bones) of a female demon when thought to believe it was only a myth. Bobby proved her wrong.

Bobby needed his soul back from Crowley, but the latter intended to keep it. So, the hunter get dirt on the demon and find out where Crowley's bones were located and threatened to burn it. Since both demons and spirits are able to disappear forever from the burnings of their remains, Sam, Dean, and Bobby concluded that demons are super evil spirits.

Since Sam is technically still alive, only brought back as a human by higher powers, and had not yet gone through the process of demonization, it is safe to conclude that Sam is still a human and only had drunk demon blood to gain the power but not become one. Sammy's just a guy going through addiction problem; there are a lot of drawbacks for an addict, hence his moodiness.

  • You could be right, I hadn't really thought about it. Your conclusion does make sense, though.
