Do doctors ask about previous miscarriage?

I'm switching doctors soon because of a move. I'm assuming when I fill out all the new patient paperwork there will be a spot for OB/GYN stuff. I recently suffered a miscarriage in August. If I mark the paperwork that I have had a miscarriage will the doctor/staff further question me about it? Its still a fresh wound and I'm sensitive about it.

  • They probably will ask.

They may need to know what stage of pregnancy you were in when you had the misscarriage.

  • It depends on the surgery.

I suffered a miscarriage in January and got a new doctor in April and when I registered I wasnt asked about previous pregnancies. The form asked how many children I had but not how many pregnancies so I put zero. The only OB/GYN stuff was about smear tests.

When you get pregnant again and have your booking appointments with doctors/ midwives then they will ask for details.

Also, if you saw doctors about your miscarriage and you put details of your previous surgery on the forms then they should be able to import the details anyway.

  • They will be interested in how many pregnancies you have had and also live births

they will not further question you
