I agree with Corleone .. The SSLP, MMLP and The Eminem Show were all classics and a year between each. That was him at his prime and he was virtually untouchable. Even his weak albums still have some strong ish on them. Eminem on his bad day is hardly reached by anyone but when he's at his best than he's amazing. I think Nas isn't consistent at all. I mean if it takes you ten years to come up with another classic? What the hell? I think Unititled and Relapse were both wack. However, I'm biased because i'm not into Nas's style of rap, too many people sound like him. I also think Em seems to work harder on his music, you can tell rap is everything to him.
I also think it's an unfair comparison because Nas has been in the game waaay longer than Eminem and much more material to judge him on. Eminem has had out of 6 albums .. 3 classics and Infinite was nearly one (people compared him to Nas on Infinite and he frankly did it way better lol). Nas had 9 albums and I only consider 2 to be classics.
Nas more consistent?...It was ten years between his hottest albums. Illmatic and Stillmatic are classics, but nothing in between them. Eminem's first 2 were classics, true he has been falling off since then, but he usually sneaks in a few hot songs on each LP. Stan = One Mic. Marshall Mathers LP = Illmatic. Lyrical content, they are both nice. Styles are really different though. Don't get me wrong, I like them both. Nas = the hood poet. Eminem was almost lyrically flawless in his time. Renegade with Em & Jay-Z was NUTS. Black Republican with Nas & Jay-Z, same thing. Eminem destroys people that beef with him. Nas is good when it comes to beef but he never did finish off 50 or Jay-Z. Both recognize each other's talent. Would love to see a freestyle battle in the middle of a ring....
Eminem doesn't have an album nearly as good as Illmatic, Nas doesn't have a song nearly as good as "Stan". Nas is more consistent, I guess, so him. Not too big a fan of either, though.
