b.c. / a.d.?

Do all authentic atheists and muslims, get mad every time they look at or write any date? because they all relate to Jesus don’t they?

  • Some things aren't worth getting angry about. I can't change the way we document years. I can't change what our money says. There's no point in getting all worked up about it. I'll just stress myself out. There are more important things in life to get stressed out about. Like buying a house, for example. Or eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich using the fatty kind of peanut butter.

  • Well.. BC and AD have been cycled out for BCE and CE (Before Common Era and Common Era) to be more poitically correct, however they still count from Jesus's birth, so there really was no change. We use the years in BCE and CE just for convenience with the rest of the world.

As-Salamu Alaykum - Peace be upon you

  • I've posted the response to this kind of question at least twice today:

Do people get mad every time they say the names of the days of the week which are named for pagan gods? Or the names of the months which are Roman gods? Or how about using the Julian calendar? Calling Easter by the pagan name?

    *sigh*

  • No. its just a date and most of the population on the planet wouldn't understand the alternative dating system (much more accurate though it is). Some things you just have to learn to accept.

Btw, AD doesn't mean After Death. It means Anno Domini.

  • Some people don't stop to think about it much. There is much more to life than thinking about B.C. and A.D. for them.

  • You can use BCE and CE as replacements. Before common era and common era.

  • It is interesting to note that our entire calender system is based around one man- Jesus Christ.

  • well they obviosly did becasue they changed b.c. to b.c.e (before common era)

    they are just ridiculos

  • Silly fundie.

Why are you stuck in the 20th century?

We don't use those any more.

  • nope, it's just convention.
