Why do you consider Blackstar a gret album?
I've asked this many times, and regs don't really answer this... I find it corny and boring as hell... it's like sitting through a one hour african american history class...
Make a good argument.
BQ: Mos Def >> Talib Kweli

I don't really like it tbh.
BQ: Talib Kweli
Yeah in some parts its wack but Brown Skin Lady is the shÃt i think Black On Both Sides was way better
I love that album...
BQ: Agree.
I think its one of the best that the whole Rawkus era and sound with the free bouncing instrumentals and sharp lyricism has to offer.
BQ: Mos as his best is better than Talib, but discography wise, Talib wins.
Because of its subject matter and the lyrics. But I guess your into walking talking flames and 2 fake but hey man whatever makes you happy.
Bq:they're both good
I consider it a great album because of the subject matter, lyrics and production value. Overall the album gave a very positive message to the audience. It picked up where Krs One and Common had left off with their albums and subjects. IMO this help put Kweli and Mos on the map and it was a step away from the materialistic rap that was picking up then.
BQ.Mos Def
I think the album musically is good thieves in the night is DOPE but why people acclaim it to be so great in my opinion is because kweli mos def and all those involved with the album brought a higher level of pride and appreciation to the UNDERGROUND hip hop scene at the time. Weren't that many underground acts that blew up like they did especially Mos Def he's mister hollywood.
BQ: mos def got more swag then kweli and they both can rap their *** off when they want to kweli just does it more often. Mos Def did ghetto rock C'MON ;-)
great production + stellar lyrics, adding in a perfect amount of guest appearances that help the album actually. plus barely any filler and you have a great album.
I like the lyricism and production really.... I don't know how you really find it corny, I also like the relaxed aura of the album as a whole.
BQ: Talib>, because he just has a better catalogue, better flow, and better all around really.... He's also more relevant and true to hip hop
I agree with you, it is quiet boring tbh.
I posted a question about this quite a while ago actually
