Does my mental problem matter?

So I have anxiety disorder and manic depression, and just got a job in sales. My job involves talking to literally 200+ people per day, plus if I don't talk to enough people I'll literally be making no money. Every single day I cried because I couldn't handle it, and it's even annoying my co-workers.

Should I just quit my job and find something else? It's a great management program but I'm afraid mentally I'm just not capable of going through it all.

  • I would think this job would be hard for most people. I couldn't do a job like that. If it makes you feel worse, then you owe it to yourself and the company to pass on this job. I would talk to a manager first though. You might think you are doing a bad job, and they might think you are doing a great job. There might be some other area of the company where you might fit in better too, so talk to them before you quit. Good luck to you.

  • If you have a manic-depressive disorder (bi-polar), or even if you simply have some strong characteristics of such a disorder, you probably would find so many social interactions very difficult. You could get better at it if you want to or you could try to find a job that would not entail so much anxiety due to social interactions. Dealing with others, especially strangers, is bound to cause higher than usual anxiety levels.

  • If you've tried a therapist, or medications to help with the anxiety and manic depression, and these strategies still aren't working to help you cope with this job, then it's probably time to find something else.

  • TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR and see what he or she says before you make any plans to leave the job

  • all telephones suck... but no matter where you work you will have to deal with a whole lotta people.. find a solution where you are at... theres no where at all to work where you dont have to deal with thousands of other humans .....
