  • Let the vet deal with the ear. A hematoma in an ear is a hard thing to fix. So if your vet has gotten the ear to stay bonded so to speak leave it be. And follow your vets instructions to the letter.

An ear with a hematoma usually ends up being what we call a cauliflower ear............all crumpled up. This happens because the cartilage in the ear separates from the tissue and is very difficult to get to heal up properly.

I wish you luck and patience is the prescription here.

May the joy, hope, peace and love the season has to offer be with you and yours.

  • It's difficult to tell what you are saying due to the incomplete sentences, but aural hematomas are difficult to repair. I know a vet that won't repair them because they look just as bad afterward as they did before. There are many different ways to repair them. The procedure we use involves making the ear look like a quilt. You drain the blood out, then tack the ear in several areas so it can't fill up again.

The more difficult part is sussing out why the hematoma developed in the first place. Usually this is from head shaking due to chronic infection, ear mites, sarcoptes, etc. If you don't fix that problem, then the hematoma is likely to return.

  • my dog just had surgery on Friday October 30, 2015 to have a hematoma removed from her ear. Her ear looks just as good as it id before she ot a hematoma.
