a cat 277b skid loader to be more specific. I can't find anything about how it operates that makes sense to me...
Help?
The front and back wheels on the right side are connected with a chain drive.
There is a hydraulic motor for the right side.
The left side has an identical set up.
Both motors have a spring applied hydraulically released brake.
When the machine is standing still or the diesel engine is off, both brakes are applied.
To operate the machine, a joystick controls hydraulic valves that operate both motors.
Going strait forward or backward, both motors operate at the same RPM.
To turn left or right, can be done two ways.
A partial movement of the joy stick speeds up one motor.
A full movement of the joy stick reverses one motor.
HowStuffWorks has a good write up on it.
As you read it and come to the bottom of each page, click the next page tab. There are seven pages.
