4wd Tacoma problem?
2004 Tacoma was having transmission problem. Got it replaced with used one and running good. But 4wd light on dash doesn't light up when I try to engage it to 4wd and it don't feel like its engaged, but when I press the 4wd button, I do hear a noise like how it sounds like when it was working.it don't seem to work when testing on gravel. Anyone know what's going on? Does it have something to do with the transmission?

take it back and have them look at it. might be a loose connection when installing the wiring harness or they forgot to connect the wiring harness
It COULD be that the shop that replaced your transmission just forgot to connect the wire that controls the 4wd light on your instrument panel. Take it back to the shop that did the work and ASK THEM!
While engaged put truck up on rack and test 4 wheel
