It depends. If we are all home, then not as much. If we are not home most of the day they sleep 16 hours out of 24 hours, and just to eat, pee/poop, or go for a walk.
Dogs conserve their energy by sleeping until they need to do something energetic. However any dog who is left home alone will become bored miserable and lonely.
If you intend leaving a dog alone all day, it could become anti-social and aggressive.
If you love dogs, please don't get a dog and condemn it to a miserable and lonely life.
hummmm....it depends on their type.Depending on how active YOU are....and how involved your dog is with you, it can be normal for a dog to sleep up to 16 hrs. They basically get bored if they are not a "working" breed.

My dog sleeps a lot she is a boxer Bout 40- 50 pounds pretty much all day she naps gets up to eat or go outside
