Brain trauma - not roid rage?
Remember Chirs Nowinski, WWE's only Harvard grad? Well, he's now an expert on concusions and the traume they cause to the brain. You see him on ESPN alot, and he works with footballs teams with this problem. He's come forward to say he belives all the concussions Benoit rec'd may have led to this, as repeated concussions can cause act of rage and paranoia. This seems somewhat consistent as it's been reported that about a year ago, Benoit became paranoid and believed he was being followed and someone was out to get him and his family. Nowinski noted that Benoit is one of the few wrestlers who would allow someone to hit him in the back of the head with a chair where it is much more dangerous then getting hit on the forehead or rop of the head. Nowinski is asking that the coroner bring in a brain expert to examine Benoit for the tell-tale signs of concussion traume, but has so far been denied his request. .
It's just another theory, but it looks more credible to me than roid rage.

I had wondered many times whatever happened to Nowinski until I saw him on ESPN a few months ago. Glad to see he made a life for himself after wrestling.
I have been trying to follow up with the Benoit story.
Ironically I am not a wrestling fan (too much drama) but I really liked Benoit. He was a low key guy that went out in the ring and kicked butt...not much of a drama queen so to speak and I always respected him for not lowering himself too much to play the stupid WWE scripted roles.
Thanks for posting this as I will keep tabs on it.
There are people who want to jump on the roid rage bandwagon...people always want someone else to blame.
The wrestling lifestyle in itself is a stressfull one.
Also people need to keep in mind other turmoils Benoit went through.
You cant help but look at the way his wife and him hooked up and wonder...was this really a great marriage?
Also Daniel had Fragile X. That has to be stressful as well....most married couples with a child who has a disabilities dont make it long.
Whatever the cause may be I hope something comes out of this...some kind of awareness and some problem solving techniques.
Yes, Lila - re-read the questions. It says REPEATED concussions. One single blow to the back of the head may not have caused serious brain trauma, but repeated blows over a 20 year career adds up and can cause serious damage. Just ask Troy Aikman what repeated concussions can do to you.
I seriously wish people would get over the whole "wrestling isn't real crap" I hate to break it to you all but most of it is real, they talk to one another and let each other know what is going to happen. Those chair shots are very real so this scenario could very well be true. If **** wasn't real then why do so many wrestlers have to be out on medical leave for so long??? There not on freakin vacation.
They keep saying it was roid rage, but I think if he killed his family in a fit of rage from steroids, it would have been a more brutal scene. His acts were deliberate and planned out. I believe he may have been depressed or mentally unstable.
Lila...it's not a tap on the head with the chair. Most of the wrestlers take chair shots to the top of the head, which is the hardest part of the head. Why do you think the chairs dent so much?
Actually the latest information is that Benoit used a CHOKE HOLD on his own son to kill him.
Benoit = Monster
This goes beyond roid rage and paranoia. This was methodically done with his wife's feet and arms bound and obvious signs of a struggle. He then smothered his son....most instances of murder-suicide, the kids are left alive. This was first degree, premeditated murder. Not a fit of rage.
Who the heck is Chris Nowinski?
Lila your wrong. The storylines are scripted, but the injuries are real. These guys get paid to bash eachother. Concussions in the WWE are not fake/scripted.
