Do you think insurance companies are a scam.?
We pay all this money throughout the year for insurance, and then when it comes to an emergency you still have to co pay thousands of dollars.

Consider how much you could be paying without any insurance. Now look at how much your co-pay actually is and how much you've paid in premiums. Are you saving anything?
Maybe you should look into getting set up with a different insurance company. My husband was near death recently after being hit by someone on his way to work. For the first two weeks (one week in ICU, one week in PCU), the charges for his room and nursing care alone was over $300,000. Our insurance company paid the bill and we have no co-pay on it. With all of the care that he's received since the accident (totalling in the neighborhood of $600,000) our total copay is only going to end up being near $1000 and that money can be paid over time and is mostly for doctor visits that are a consequence of the accident and for equipment that our insurance doesn't cover (our insurance has covered most of the necessary equipment completely, including the rental of a power wheel chair).
Sit down and think of what you want out of an insurance company, then shop around. You may find that what you want in an insurance company is just around the corner.
(Feel free to e-mail me if you'd like the name of our insurance company.)
Good luck!
Insurance companies are horrible. I had a situation where they weren't going to pay for a covered procedure. Funny thing is I have been paying health insurance for that last 7 years and haven't had so much as a cold.
Insurance companies are out to make money first, then help the customer second. Sad but true
I am glad I had to only pay $10 for my prescription Zofran. Without it I would have had to pay $600 every two weeks. I am glad I am "scammed" out of my $20 a month. Sure beats $1200
well yes - but several years ago I had surgery. It was a small day surgery. The bill was $16,000 - Luckily I had insurance and I only paid $100.00 So 100 compared to SIXTEEN Thousand. HMM I'ld rather pay the $100
I agree with you I was told that I had a 1000k deductible and then at the beginning of the year I have to start all over paying so I will be covering over 2000K of my maternity which really sucks cause I was prepared for the 1000k but now I may have to pay it all over and I have BCBS so I have to pay my entire deductible bfor they cover anything which isn't bad but deg can a woman get a break.
I don't think insurance companies are scams. Gosh, even if they were, I would rather be "scammed" out of a copay then out of a $18,000 maternity stay.
of course its a scam they try to get out of paying for everything they can and still continue to collect your money every pay ..
but try to get medical care without having at least krappy insurance some hospital turn you away as do dr offices...
But isn't co paying better than paying all of the medical bills?
yes it is a scam but find a doctor who will give u ficticious medical claims and cream the insurance companies with it. i have been doing it for years.
I do feel that they sometimes overcharge but there is this thing called the maternity card and they will help you pay your copay
