Why is progressivism bad?
This question goes out to all my conservative friends: if you think progressivism is bad, please tell me why. Use logic and reason, please. No hate speech.
Update:I think it's probably a good idea to define the term "progressivism." You guys are giving me odd answers which I doubt have any relation to this definition: "a political attitude favoring or advocating changes or reform."

The problem is, progressives favor change, but, oftentimes, they aren't very picky about that change. It's an attitude that change, any change, is required, not desired.
I have seen self proclaimed progressives on here get very irate when questioned as to whether a change they are pushing is actually useful, or has any utility.
The second problem is that, if you don't agree with a proposed change, there is automatically something wrong with you for questioning the change proposed. After all, it is a change, and change is the required state. In fact, oftentimes, opposition to a proposed change is considered immaterial to the question at hand, and is oftentimes ignored and downplayed as "They just fear change". Opposition is ignored.
The third problem I have with progressivism is that, while they advocate changing the system that exists, once it has been accomplished, will fight tooth and nail to prevent any further changes. The problem is that once the progressive has created a change, they then morph into a Conservative, and fight to prevent any further changes. This means that if the change they've created is a failure, or isn't performing well, they refuse to allow any further changes, and we are then stuck with something that doesn't work.
I think that the greatest failure of the progressive concept was typified in the history of the franchise "Chuck E Cheese". When it was first created, it had a tight and narrow business focus, and it made it's creator a nice steady income. He then left it in the hands of "Business Executives" and moved on to another project. When he noticed it began loosing money, he looked at the business again, and found that the pizza menu had been changed over the years. Instead of being very simple pizza's (which children, the main target customer loves) they had turned the place into a gourmet and exotic pizza joint, with most of the expensive ingredients being discarded so regularly that the business was now loosing money. meanwhile, the executives that had decided to change things were ignoring the problem, rather than admit their changes weren't working.
That is the problem.
The example I like to use is:
It isn't a good idea to hit yourself in the crotch with a hammer just because it's a change from not hitting yourself in the crotch with a hammer.
Wow, i do no longer think of a single conservative who replied the question even knows what the observe progressivism skill. Liberalism, progressivism, socialism, and communism all have distinctive meanings, yet you human beings use the words interchangeably as though they're all grimy words with precisely an identical which skill. in case you will stop listening to Glenn Beck and tutor yourselves, you're able to correctly be shocked at what you will study. The solutions particularly sound like Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh costs without a glimmer of understand-how of the easily themes. changing issues does not might desire to fee greater. The wellbeing care reform bill will easily cut back the deficit. against this, the Bush administration ran up a 4.9 trillion greenback deficit by skill of helping "conservative values" which contain 2 wars and subsidies to special Oil and great company. it incredibly is no longer as black and white as your top-wing pundits paint it.
Wow, I don't think a single conservative who answered the question even knows what the word progressivism means. Liberalism, progressivism, socialism, and communism all have different meanings, but you people use the words interchangeably as if they're all dirty words with exactly the same meaning. If you'd stop listening to Glenn Beck and educate yourselves, you might be surprised at what you'd learn. The answers above all sound like Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh quotes without a glimmer of understanding of the actual issues.
Changing things doesn't have to cost more. The health care reform bill will actually reduce the deficit. By contrast, the Bush administration ran up a 4.9 trillion dollar deficit by supporting "conservative values" such as two wars and subsidies to Big Oil and Big Business. It's not as black and white as your right-wing pundits paint it.
It may help the reader here to comprehend that "Progressivism" is a philosophy of governing that believes that things that are pragmatic ( useful, work well, utilitarian) and economically feasible... are inferior to ideas of "Central Planning" - which is the cessation of individual rights and freedoms and completely yielded to the state - which they control. These same progressive advocates dislike individual responsibility and favor collective responsibility. They prefer mass indoctrination oi lieu of freedom of choice and direction. They also introduce "policies" that disregard individual concerns, and these policies are usually unworkable, counter-productive, and wildly inefficient. Of course when progressive policies result in catastrophic cost and ultimate failure, the policies cannot be criticized as folly, because they really believe that the idealistic and radical does NOT NEED to be practical to be utilized - only accepted as directed by the Elite Insufferable Superior Masters of Humankind. That, they want to be enough for the common man to go along with it. It doesn't matter if it really achieves its goal - only enough that "WE SAY SO" and their policies are not allowed to be questioned. THE STATE IS THEIR HIGHEST AUTHORITY AND THEIR GOD - THE STATE COUNTS FOR EVERYTHING AND HE INDIVIDUAL IS NOTHING......
All you have to do is watch it in action. Obama and his administration is failing miserably with his progressive agenda. Progressivism is about positioning the elite class with more power, wealth and control over the masses and a depletion of our rights. They believe in big government that is who all should look to for solving all or our problems and controlling all things. Their entire agenda is developed to that end and any legislation that is passed has that motive - Obamacare, tax increases, Cap and Trade. Part of that agenda is the erosion of our Constitution. They hate Capitalism and embrace Socialism. They believe in re-distribution of wealth. Why should those who have worked hard to obtain wealth have to support those who were not willing to do what it takes to accumulate wealth? Why is it the problem of the wealthy to give money to those who are not willing to work or sacrifice?
I am ok with a safety net for those who end up in trouble and need a leg up until they get back on their feet. I am not ok with able-bodied Americans collecting welfare for their entire life and from one generation to the next while having more babies for taxpayers to support.
So, tell us what you find good about progressivism.
Depends on what we're being progressive about. Socially progressive, wonderful! Economically, I need to be convinced the government is the best solution (for example, I agree that healthcare should be universally available, but I don't necessarily think the government should be the one providing it; it should regulate it, though).
What can I say, I have a complex system of beliefs! I'm working on it.
A lot of so-called "conservatives" who are really just classical liberals who can't get out of the closet do too. Conservatism in the US is a very confused and unique ideology.
Because Progressives believe that the Constitution is old-fashioned and is not relevant in today's society.
Progressives believe that the Constitution puts limits on what government can do (which is the original intention of the writers of the Constitution) and does not dictate what the government must do on a citizen's behalf.
Progressives believe that government is the solution to all problems in almost all circumstances.
Because, progressivism started Union power and led to lynchings of many black workers in the early 1900's and when they were called out they then hijacked the Liberal party (today Libertarianism) and used the Liberal name as a moniker ever since.
The stand for massive gov't, and the massive spreading of wealth, AKA Marxism.
Good day.

i think libealism is ok to a degree, but socialism is not
when you tax someone too much, you are telling them they need to work for free, which is essentially slavery. without the motivation to get ahead, productivity drops.
Anti-progressives are worried about getting taxed too much, and seeing the people that aren't doing enough get the benefit of their hard work.
I think you just need to find a balance that helps people get on their feet, but not enable uselessness at the same time.
