Do Marines deny reenlistment?
I want to make a career out of the military, and I am stuck between the Army or Marines. If the Marines don't deny reenlistment, then I'm joining them. If they do, what are the chances of it happening to me?

ANY branch can deny you re-enlistment, and, they don't have to give you a reason. i knew people that were good soldiers that were denied re-enlistment when their contract was up - for the convenience of the government. it was an honorable discharge, but they jsut happened to get stuck in an MOS that was way overmanned and they were denied re-enlistment, so their careers came to an end.
the Marines can (and do) deny re-enlistment as well. re-enlistment is NOT a 'right'. it is not a 'given'. no branch is going to guarantee you 20 years! the military is not a guaranteed jobs program!
Ah, The marine corps will gladly keep you in if they can. Remember that the Marines is a complete shitstorm. Boot camp is shitty, but when you get in if you are an 03 be prepared for slavery. The Marines is a one of the kind experience, but the Marine corps is a different way of life. Other branches will let you get some training at a great job and after boot camp they accept you. Even in boot it's really not that awful. They are both amazing, but the Marine corps will try to beat you up mentally and physically to keep you miserably and ready to kill your enemy. Join a branch for the right reasons. Too many Marines I knew loved their jobs but got ****** by recruiters. Goodluck with your decision. I was in this same site 6 years ago with the same question.
All branches can deny reenlistment. 1) If the service member has a less than stellar record 2) Budget cutbacks.
I know an Air Force pilot and an Army sergeant that were both let go from their respective service.
All branches can deny re-enlistment. Do you really think it is automatic? There are cut offs in place that if you don't make a certain rank, you are out.
Any branch can decide not to offer you the option for reenlistment, YOU have to prove your self as worth keeping.
