Best for two Sundown Audio E series 12"?

Okay I have two E series Sundown Audio 12" subwoofers (2 ohm)

These subs are 400w RMS each.

Im looking for an amp that'll push these subs nicely, without heating up a lot.

I play my music a lot! And for a long time! (Usually an hour or two)

These are the amps I'm looking at...

  • Rockford Fosgate PRIME R1000-1D is nice

Here is another Kenwood, only for less

    $140

Kenwood KAC-9105D-RB 1800W Max Class D Monoblock Performance Amplifier - Refurbished

    4 ohms: 500 watts x 1 chan.

    2 ohms: 900 watts x 1 chan.

    1 ohm: >900 watts x 1 chan.

Often, refurbished is when a product goes back to the manufacturer, they inspect it and re-package it. Warranty and all is the same as if you bought a brand new item.

This Kenwood has internal fan plus aluminum heat sinks. At 1-ohm it will give you at least 900 rms watts. Your subs are rated at 400 rms watts each. It is then possible for the amp to fry your sub.

To prevent this, follow these steps.

First, turn gain almost all the way off.

Start the engine and play a familiar song on a store-purchased CD

On the head unit, turn up bass, treble, and volume to max.

Now, open all windows and go to your amp.

Very slowly, gradually start increasing gain (turn to right)

One of two things will begin to happen:

    a) either your ears will start hurting

    or

    b) you will start hearing distortion / noise / burping from speakers.

When you get either A or B, stop increasing gain. From that point take gain down just a tiny bit.

    You are set.

Adjust your volume, treble and bass to your liking.

This is how you set the gain on the amp. It's purpose is to protect system from permanent damage of its components, including your ears, as they are also part of the audio system.

Print this and take it with you to the car.

  • The sixth one looks the best.

That'd be the Boston Acoustics I recommended to you in your other question for $180 shipped.

OF THE ONES YOU LISTED, the first one.

    Rockford Fosgate R1200-1D
