The phone book is an amazing treasure trove of great names. There's stuff in there, especially if it's a big city phone book, that you could never, ever make up. Also, I have to disagree with the first answerer. Most writers I know don't simply rely on anagrams of their friends' names. This can vary from writer to writer, but most want the name to sound right for the character. Unless you only write about your friends, this means you need to find other, better names. One published writer I know carries around a little notebook that he fills with interesting given names and surnames he hears.
I would suggest either googling weird names or you could always check out this site.

The names aren't always weird, but if you're looking for the name to mean something, you could probably find it here. Also, they have lots of mythological and ancient names, which are usually pretty unusual.
A animated series has a main character named "Alucard", and if you spell it backwards it spells "Dracula". Now, isn't that interesting?
Seth.
Selene. You should use this name for a dark character because Selene is the goddess of the moon. And the moon is surrounded by darkness.. so on, so fourth.
