math problem?

The average speed of the winners of the annual Indianapolis 500 automobile race from 1957 to 2001, in a race that is usually 500 miles in length, varied from 100,356 to 1,762,751. Indicate the limits of eight classes into which these values (numbers of copies) might be grouped?

and explain ur answer please? thank u

  • I wont solve it for you but I'll tell you how YOU can solve it.

When dividing a given range into "x" number of classes, do the following:

Step 1 --- Subtract the lower limit of the range from the upper limit. In this case, 1762751 - 100356

Step 2 --- Divide the result from step 1, by x. Say this is = y

Step 3 --- The classes are:

Lower limit to lower limit +y

lower limit +y to lower limit +2y

lower limit +2y ... and so on

    till

lower limit + 7y to upper limit (which is same as lower limit + 8y)

Don't cram anything but understand that the classes are actually equally spaced intervals between the given range.

I hope u understand this. You will find this useful when u do statistics later on.
