Biblical times vs. Present Day? ?
I am not asking for all the religious fanatics to be bombarding me with bible verses.. Please don't. I don't need to be convinced or converted LOL!!
Seriously, in biblical times people had apparitions visit them all the time, heard voices and heard the voice of god almost on a daily basis. Or at least that is what is written right?
If that happened today... anyone who claimed they saw an aparation, heard the voice of god or otherwise would be labeled schizophrenic or mentally ill would they not?
Joan of ARC is a great example. She claimed to hear god who directed her into war.... she was found guilty of some charge, tied to a stake and burned... however??? IN TODAY'S WORLD SHE WOULD BE LABELED MENTALLY ILL...
I don't know why all the fab miracles and stuff just don't happen in modern times? IF they do people are labled mentally ill and started on med are they not?

I wonder if we have less faith now and more reason & science? Everything nowadays has to be explained and "God" isn't a viable reason anymore.

Your assuming that those who do hear voices make it known publically. I personally have never heard anything, but if it did I wouldn't tell my doctor unless those voices became a hindrance. Obvioulsy people who are, say, Schizophrenic hear voices because they a mental ill - but a lot of very sane people have heard voices or saw apparitions. What I find interesting is that I've known many people who've seen ghosts (my brother for example) and I know they are sane people (my brother is a lawyer who has never seen anything since). And if you can believe in ghosts, then believing in God is not a far stretch from there. I can't personally think of any historical figures that heard the voice of God, at least recently, but I know they are out there. Besides, if you heard voices yourself today, would you tell anyone?
