ok well the Ati Crossfire is not even a video card, it is any two Ati video cards that are hooked up. as for your question yes a new video card would increase your gaming performance, but there are a few things you need to do before buying a card,
A) look for a card that is compatible with your computer
does your computer have a Pci-e slot?
will the card your considering fit in your case?
is your power supply big enough to power the card?
is your computer worth upgrading?
etc.

*you have your motherboard, which is the PCB (printed circuit board) that houses and connects all of your components.
*you have the CPU (central processing unit), which is essentially the brain of the computer, it is fed instructions by programs that it then performs physically, resulting in the completion of a task. *you have your HDD (hard disk drive) which is the memory that stores all of your computer's data for when you need it.
*you have RAM (random access memory), which you might think of as a short-term memory (ish), and allows your processor to do more complicated tasks.

Well, a graphics card is basically a mini computer that is dedicated specifically to processing the visuals on your computer. It has its own PCB that houses and connects its components. It has what's called a GPU (graphics processing unit) which is exactly what it sounds like, a processor designed specifically to process graphical commands. It has its own RAM to store larger amounts of data at once, and of course that is dedicated to data pertaining to your graphics processing. It utilizes the computer's hard drive.
So that's how it works. It is essentially like saying instead of having one person reading a math problem and working it and having the same person write an essay at the same time, you're having one person do the math and one person write the essay. So, since you now have another "mind" dedicated specifically to your graphics, it will definitely improve graphical and game performance.
A better graphics card has a faster GPU, on the most basic level. So the idea of a good graphics card is it allows you to crank up all the high graphical settings on your game, have it at a high resolution, and still play the game at a fast frame-rate (measured by FPS, or frames per second, meaning the amount of still frames displayed on the screen per second. Obviously, something only flashing five frames each second will look like a fast slide show, but something going at 70 frames each second is a smooth-flowing video.).

It depends, on what amount of ram you have and what integrated graphics card you have. The laptop that I use at the moment as a standby because my other PC is dead has 1GB of ram and a integrated graphics card and is a Dell Inspiron. I tried to play mine craft but the 3D analysis would not work because of graphics driver issues. Where as My mate has the same Laptop but with better specs, and it does work.
Yes the game runs better, it gives smoother frame rates and enables you to turn on the Antalias and Anisotropic filtering for much higher quality pictures.
