Is Leonidas a good boy's name?
I was thinking of naming my son Leonidas. My better half doesn't seem to mind the name but i'd like some info from the general public. We'd likely call him Leon for short.
Update:Sorry for not putting this earlier, we are a Midwestern United States family, but our family name is one not shared by too many. We aren't exactly affluent but certainly not experiencing poverty. He'll likely be intelligent as he and his mother are, and we are both of an athletic built type on the agile side.

It is all up to you and his father. But I personally do not like the name. I do not like Leon either. But again, that is only my personal preference.
It is different. But unless it has meaning to you, its not something that I find as an attractive name or a cute name.
Just think about when he is in high school or older and having people call him leonidas. That is ridiculous. I saw a kid named RODEO for crying out loud the names these days are getting crazier and crazier.
I live in the Midwest too. Honesty I don't like the name much, but its definitely unique. Leon isn't too bad.
