Do you think i'm depressed?
okay, so this year of school hasn't been starting out so great. i have really bad social anxiety, and i can never really pay attention. i went and got a few sessions of therapy for the anxiety but it didn't help me much, so we went and talked to a doctor about medication, and she prescribed me with adhd medication, she said it may or may not help with my anxiety but should help me pay attention better, she said if it didn't help with the anxiety she would prescribe me anxiety medication. so i tried the adhd meds, they didn't really help much but making me feel more wired and alert, the side effects were horrible at night, and it did not help with anxiety at all, well were going back to see the doctor soon but ever since i found out the adhd meds didn't work, i've been feeling down, and things have been getting worse, and i feel like there's no hope, and i feel like i can never be myself, i wish people knew the real me. i let all my anger out on my family because they're the only people i can seem to let it out on. and i feel bad, i don't know what to do. i'm lost.

DONT B SAD OR FEEL BAD! i understand, i go through **** all the time, and feel anxiety a bit of paranoia at school too. it feels horrible. If the medicine dosnt help, i would suggest talking to your doctor about how it makes you feel and stop taking it. Just remember that even though you yell at your family, it dosnt mean that you dont love them and they dont love you. try and find something that you can be comfortable doing, or friends that understand and love you.

These books also teach people about therapy, to help them decide whether or not it's what they need. So, there are two different ways that reading could help you
Some therapists specialize in working with young people because young clients have their own special problems. One of them is not cooperating with the therapist as much as adults do. I don't mean to make you feel worse, because I'm sure you're feeling lousy, but I hope you'll consider what I just said. For therapy to work, you have to make it work.
The book recommended most often for depression by mental health professionals is The Feeling Good Handbook by Dr. David D. Burns. Studies have shown Dying of Embarrassment by Barbara Markway to help people with social anxiety.
There are standard screening tests for depression, like the CES-D, that you can get on the Net and use for free. You would probably get a test like this if you saw your doctor about depression.
