Hello,

I am looking into buying a Impreza Outback, but i have a few questions. Is the car fast? What could i do to make it fast? I am looking into racing it.

    The Impreza Outback Sport is 2.5L and gives you roughly 160-165 hp. The car weight around 3000-3500 empty weight (if you are racing) plus your weight.

    It is all wheel drive so it will have a slightly disadvantage on initial start up unless you are rolling start.

    If you can buy a WRX, you get a better hp around 227 while a slightly modification, the car can goes around 250 hp (such as changing the boost to around 14 psi during racing). But your car will need a lot of maintaince.

    The car is gonna be somewhat "fast". It's a little bigger than the sedan, so I assume it's gonna be a bit heavier. Why not go for the Imreza WRX STI?? With that, it'll be even faster standard (meaning w/o parts).

    But to make it fast, (or quicker), you could put on, a new cat-back exhaust, put in a new Cold Air Intake, add a supercharger/turbocharger. To make the car handle and perform better, you could put in a sway bar, a track bar, new shocks & springs, new tires (new tires can do wonders for the ride of a car) and you could also upgrade the brakes.

    Don't waste your money trying to make it faster. All the bolt on's will get you around 15 HP ans cost a couple thousand dollars. Every HP past that will cost a lot more. If you must mod stick to suspension stuff. That car can be made really fun to drive in the mountains with the right suspension set up. But without some big money it will not be fast.

    the best subaru for racing is the Impreza WRX STi. if you get a STi the biggest problem will be that you will not have the skills to drive it to its full potential

    any subaru are fast, because they all have all wheel drive.if i were you just take STI.Cause STI is the fastest subaru.
