  • (357 - 50n ) miles ANSWER

  • Your speed is 50 miles/hr

    So in n hours you will travel (50 x n)=50n miles i.e. you will be 50n miles from the station

    The bus leaves the station and heads toward towson 357 miles away. You were told to find the distance from towson after n hour.

    You are 50n miles from the station.

    So you will be 357 - 50n miles from towson. [since station is 357 miles from towson and you already covered 50n miles. So you have 357 - 50n to go]

    If your distance from towson after n hours is D, then

    D = 357 - 50n

    p.s. the above answer is kinda wrong coz you were told to find distance from towson not distance from the station.

  • speed = distance/time

    distance = speed x time

    Speed = 50 miles/hr

    If time = n, then distance = speed x n

    You're told that speed = 50 miles/hr

    Therefore, distance =357- 50 miles/hr x n

    Where n = number of hours.
