expand the brackets first always: 4(x+6) + 5(x+3) = 4x+24+5x+15. Now simplify: 9x+39. Now factorise: take 3 off 36 (as it shows in your question) and you get 9x + 36. Factorise it: divide everything by 9, 9(x+4). Now add the 3 back on and voila: 9(x+4)+3.
Comments
Multiplying out:
4x + 24 + 5x + 15 = 9x + 36 + 3
Combining like terms:
9x + 39 = 9x + 39
Both sides are indeed equal. That's what you needed to show, so you're done.
Hope that helps!

firstly you have to multiply out the brackets
4(x+6) = 4x + 24
5(x+3) = 5x + 15
then you have to combine the like terms so
4x + 5x + 24 + 15 = 9x + 39
so you now have
9x + 39 = 9(x+4) + 3
you can now factorise the left hand side which equals the right hand side
9(x+4) + 3 = 9(x+4) + 3
hope this has helped you xx
