How to turn camcorder videos into window media player videos?

I used that the Hitachi dz-mv550a camcorder

I can only open their videos with HP Mediasmart DVD

    There are two options:

    First, Copy your video from the dvd to your computer, (make sure 1 the disk is finalised 2 that you have a tray loading DVD player in your computer) you only need the Video_Ts folder on the dvd once copied then open it and rename the VOB files to MPG.

    Second down load Handbrake from www.handbrake.fr Its free and easy to use, install and use the software to convert the video into a format that you need such as MPG
