Fellow liberals, do you take conservatives seriously?
I just cannot debate politics with them. It seems like they always reply with "that's socialist!" Or "you're a communist!".

OK, and when all libs seem to do as soon as you disagree with them is say " oh you're a racist you're a hater ", you're a this you're a that, maybe it's conservatives who shouldn't be taking libs seriously. Probaably 80%, maybe even more of what I read here is libs attacking conservatives, evidence, this question, so maybe what you should actually be doing is a bit of looking in the mirror.
i have a much harder time taking Liberals seriously than i do Conservatives. Liberals usually "get it" when it comes to social issues. Conservatives usually "get it" when it comes to financial issues. Conservatives tend to look at politics through a prism of religion. Liberals do the same, but their religion is based mostly on emotion, and emotion is a wreckless way to approach public policy. that's not to say that we shouldn't react on emotion, but we shouldn't base all our decisions on which commercials made us cry the most.
both sides have their points. i do tend to agree more with Conservatives than Liberals-- Conservatives seem to be more results driven. i happen to believe that if we all returned to the principles that made this country the bastion of freedom and prosperity-- the United States Constitution. in any case i think we will all be better off if we focus on what we know definitely works and what we know definitely doesn't. if we have a program that doesn't accomplish its goals and costs way, way too much, simply get rid of it and try something new-- particularly through each individual state. the states will figure this out, because we have no choice. if we don't fix what's broken, we won't have a country to fix.
so to get back to the original question: i would have to say that i take more Conservatives seriously than i do Liberals. i don't question the good intentions of Liberals (or Conservatives for that matter), but i do question their methods. believe it or not, not all Conservatives are cold and heartless and not all Liberals are Communists. anyways, that's my 11.5 cents, adjusted for inflation.
I personally know some conservatives who I respect greatly and take very seriously. But these people write books, not answers on this forum.
A lot of the pundits on here seem to think good debate is comparing the president to an ape or a poop smear, so they clearly can't be taken seriously.
Others just think everything they don't agree with is an example of Marxism or Fascism, which makes it hard to take them seriously either.
On YA, those claiming to be conservative are really just adolescent haters. Posting lies on YA is little more that school yard insults. They never actually post facts, and it is very obvious that they only repeat right wing talking points.
There are genuine conservative, but they would never associate with the jerks on YA.
So... do you have anything intelligent to ask? Or does this question represent the acme of your mental acuity?
I might if they would stop shooting themselves in their own feet.
