How do you connect your laptop to a printer?

I can't figue it out. I restored my laptop and now I can't get the printer to connect to it. It keeps saying I'm not putting in the right remote computer's name or printer's name I know for sure the remote computer's name and to figure out the printer's name I just went on microsoft word and clicked print and it said the name is Lexmark 8300 Series.

    Make sure your laptop is connected to your lan. Make sure you can access the remote computer through a windows explorer.

    If you have access to the remote computer, make sure the printer is shared out and check out the shared name.

    I'm betting you need to set up the network on your laptop again. Use the network wizard.

    If your printer came with a CD for installation, use the CD to install the printer again. Also read the "Getting Started" Instructions or the manual.
