I might be getting a National Champion Arabian Horse and I don't know it's name yet but are you able to re-name a horse? It's 8 years old. If so, what are some cute names? It's a Mare. I don't know what color it is either

The horse most likely has a registered name that can't be changed, but you can call her anything you want.
We have a mare named Schakara, who is out of Schamara and who had a filly we named Scharafa.
I also once owned a mare named Sunfire.
I would look at your horse's pedigree to get some ideas for a barn name.
The arabian mares I knew were named Sharaz, Sassy, Myah, Surprize, Destiny, and Amber ( who was renamed Cleo).
I also agree with elle, Kalypso would be cute too. Calliope (cali for short), Nyx, Irresistable (irre for short)
Depending on the horse, it's not always an easy task to change the name a horse responds to, as well as it's registered name, but it can be done with persistence.

You're "possibly" getting a new horse, and you want to change its name, you don't even know if your getting it. And if you do, you already want to change its name? And I don't think you can with older arabian horses, you can give it you own name. You can name it whatever you want, if I was going to name a horse I would wait and try and name her to match the personality, the situation, name her something with meaning.
you are able to rename a horse, as long as you always use that name when speaking to it, and never mention their old name!
i think Basil would be cute, but seeing as it's a mare, it wouldn't really suit:-/
if you are looking for an unusual name, why not have something like Dancer or Kalypso

This all really depends on ur style. Something to go with their color would be nice. A delicious snack or dessert would be cute, and something classy could be an italic, arabic, or greek name that translates to something cute in english.
