and you can find out everything about your computer hardware.

Then after you figure out about the motherboard try looking for what cpus it supports.

but just from a short search, i believe your motherboard is either an AM2+ or AM3 socket, as its using the amd athlon II 170u cpu.

If its AM3 then you have alot more options for cpus, as it should work with most any AM3 cpus. (where as AM2+ might not support all the AM3 cpus).

Id say http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8... "should" work in really any AM2+/AM3 motherboard, but cant say for 100% certainty.

    EDIT: @below

how is the computer not worth upgrading?

Its not like the am3 socket is a dead socket like say lga775 (core2dous and etc).

And if you arnt going to play games or run high end demanding video editing and 3d modeling software, you really dont need a super high end computer...

Upgrading the cpu to an athlon II x2 (like i linked) for $60 (may be able to find cheaper if you go used), it would be more then capable of a normal everyday computer usage.

You could even upgrade it to be able to "play" games.

You would just have to upgrade the psu and get a low profile card like a 6450/6570/6670/7750 and it could "play" games. (ofcourse you wont be playing bf3 on high settings at 1920x1080 but still capable of playing games)

with like an athlon II x2, 4GB of ram, and like a 6570/6670 you could play most all games on like low-med settings at 1920x1080 or on like med-high at a lower resolution.

  • Look for the specs on eMachines support or Google...

That is a bottom-low end computer and in my opinion it's not upgrading, you're just waisting money on a piece of junk (no offense to you or your girlfriend).

Time for a newer, better computer.
