I want to use a quote from the book to defend my argument in the thesis. Would that be bad writing?
You can absolutely use a quote in your intro. Ive used it before as a hook for the first sentence. Just don't use it as your actual thesis statement cause I know from experience, English teachers do not like that
No, but the quote should be towards the start of the paragraph and act as a hook to the reader.
