How is develope pronounced?
I've been dancing at a studio for almost 14 years and I just recently switched. At my old studio we would say develope like devlopay and slur v and l. Now at my new studio they say develope like develop-ay......I'm pretty its the first one because thats how you say it in French but sometimes the ballet word is a little different then the French word....so now I'm really confused, my new studio teachers have a little accent so maybe thats just why, any one know?

The actual French is "de-vel-opay" but I've danced at studios that use both pronunciations, so you are correct, either way. But the actual word, in French speaking countries, is the way I mentioned.
The french is "dev - low-pay. I studied french for 6 years, and Ballet for 20. Dev el oh pay is the hick pronunciation.
You are correct -- it is like "devlopay" -- the French DO "slur" the v and l.... :-)
