he has server eczema and has not put much weight on although i asked for an Allergy test the doc told me this was eczema and nothing else so how do i distinguish between the both?
If he is scratching around at the dry skin it could be a "dry skin rash." You have got to stop putting this kid in a bath everyday and using any soap other than for the diaper area. Just use water to wipe off the grime. He needs a ton of Vaseline to the areas of eczema. Eczema skin needs grease!! Moisturize with a coat of Vaseline three-four times a day everywhere there is eczema. He also needs a trip to the dermatologist to get him the right ointments. Demand on ointment and not creams. Ask the doctor which they are giving and get the ointment. It absorbs in the skin more effectively than the creams. Make sure you get allergy testing for at least soy, wheat, milk, egg white and egg yolks.
First of all, I'd like to point out that atopic dermatitis is the most common type of eczema that shows up in babies and children so your baby most likely has this type of eczema.
The answer to your question is this: an eczema is a manifestation or symptom of an allergy. Eczema is defined as "the inflammation or swelling of the skin's epidermal layer" and is the result of the malfunctioning of the immune system. What happens is that the immune system of a person with eczema reacts to substances that are not even actual threats (like food, animal fur, pollen, weather, etc). On the other hand, an allergy is a bodily reaction that is also not normal as a result of the body's malfunctioning immune system. And an allergy can cause inflammation on many parts of the body (including the skin). Hence, eczema is a symptom of an allergic reaction.
Heat rash will usually last for like a week of so ..when my daughter was 3 month she had a bad heat rash on her back n stomach ..I took her to the doctor n he said not to worry about it unless she is unhappy ..he told me I could put cornstarch on her body to prevent alot of sweating which let me tell you it really worked, her rash was gone in 2 days
