Kia Spectra?

I just recently went to buy a car and ended up only being approved for a Kia Spectra. I think it is a great car, anyone had any experience with these and what feed back do you have?

  • I like Kia and believe the Spectra is a nice car. Kia has come a long way in terms of quality and dependability. Unfortunately, the resale value has not caught up quite as fast. That could be a good thing if you are in the market for a used car, I usually buy new, so it doesn't matter to me. I can say that Kia is very competitively priced when new. Considering it is cheaper than a Honda/Toyota/Nissan, it took years for those brands to gain resale like they have now. Compared to domestic cars the Kia is not too bad, especially when you consider the Kia is usually more reliable than the domestics.

As for those who bash Kia, do you currently own one like me? Or did you own one in 1999 and trashed the car, blaming Kia for the rest of your life? I don't buy all those angry people comlpaints, Kia/ Hyundai wouldn't be selling so well if every car they make falls apart. Come on, if poor people are the main buyers, wouldn't you think the word would go out quick that Kia was rubbish? I am completely satisfied with my Kia.

  • If you want a car that will get you to work, school, etc without much cost, then the Spectra, or its cousin the Hyundai Elantra are two of the least expensive ways of getting around town. The new Spectras are safe and they all come with Kias unbeatable 10 year warranty, not to mention that they are not as expensive to own and maintain. So it all comes down to your needs. As I said before, if you just need a car, then get the Spectra and forget repair bills for the next decade. But if you want something that looks nice and shiny, then get a certified used Honda or Toyota for about 10-12 grand (they come with 4-5 year warranty). I hope this answer helped and GOOD LUCK with your car purchase.

  • I have a 04 Kia Spectra and just love it never had any problems and the service i get from the Kia dealer is also wonderful. For the price you can't beat it.

  • The Kia is not a good choice if you are buying a new car. They have one of the highest depreciation rates so the resale value will be poor.

However, because of their high depreciaiton rate, they are a good value when they are about three years old. The original owner will have absorbed the initial depreciaiton so they can be purchased at a low price and represent a good value.

  • Congratulations on getting pre approved. We hope to see you driving it soon!

  • I say go for it. I had a 2004 and never had any complaints. I was also able to walk away from an offset crash with a truck. I was going 0 and he was going about 50, so I'd consider that pretty safe.

  • do no longer purchase a kia, hyundai or geo... they're are terrible vehicles that ruin down and characteristic a terrible resale fee espically kias they're massive products of crap look in to hondas, toyotas and nissans you do desire your daughter being risk-free ideal?

  • Terrible resale value and frankly, crappy workmanship. I would definitely go with a used car thats more reputable.

  • They're good on gas and the insurance is cheap but if you don't take good care of it, repairs in the future can be quite costly.

  • Sorry, but it's got really bad crash test ratings and reliability. UNAPPROVED BY ME.
