Math problem?????????
A train 200 meters long was traveling at a constant rate of 20 meters per second through a tunnel. It took 1 min. and 10 sec. from the time that the front of the train entered the tunnel until the time that the back of the train left the tunnel. What is the lenght of the tunnel, in meters?
Comments
Speed X Time = Distance
We know the speed is 20 m/sec
We know the time is 1 min 10 sec = 70 sec
We know the distance is L (tunnel length) and 200 m (train length). So
20 m/sec(70 sec) = 200+L
1400 m = 200 + L
L = 1200 M
Check
20(70)=200+1200
1400 = 1400
