How do i connect my panasonic plasma and home cinema system correctly?

I have fitted a HDMI cable do i need a scart cable as well because when i watch tv and try to have audio through the home cinema system there is no sound even when the viera link is showing home cinema for sound. Please somone explain what cables i need and where they need to be fitted and if i need to set up my plasma and cinema system to talk to each other even with the viera link. My Plasma is the TH42PX80B and cinema system SC-PT560EB-K. PS i have sky+ fitted into the mix as well.

  • i have a bose surround sound kit connected 2 my lcd tv and run everything through the amplifier (inc sky and others eg dvd player, wii etc).

i then scart everything to my tv and that works well.

i must admit though that it was a bit daunting (have you seen how many holes/sockets there are on an amp!!!) and had to eventually go into comet who drew me a diagram.

but in a nutshell there is just one lead now from the amp to the tv set.

one important thing though is to make sure that you run a cable from your digital audio out (at the back of your sky box) into your amp.

    without this - no sound.

  • The HDMI cable enables the dvd player to couple with the home cinema and TV to give surround sound when playing a DVD only. If you want to have the surround sound on when watching ordinary tv then you need to connect the Audio Out from your tv to your home cinema amplifier and then when you turn both on you get surround sound on tv programmes (you need to buy audio jack connector). However, if you are watching TV via Freeview the sounds is often of poor quality so surround sound is no great advantage. With Sky it should be fine though

  • The HDMI cable is one way basically : HT to television what's the source of your television? If antenna or basic cable - connect television audio out (analog or s/pdif) to the HT audio in (AUX) in case you employ a sequence-spectacular container, connect its s/pdif out to the HT audio in (AUX)
